The Combined Operations Memorial at Warsash commemorates the embarkation point for the Commando Units and those of the British and Allied Navy prior to D-Day, 6 June 1944.
This stone memorial was erected for the 40th anniversary of D-Day in 1984. It is located close to the embarkation points for men of the 1st and 4th Special Service Brigade. They embarked on landing craft here and headed for Sword, Juno and Gold Beach, landing on both the 6 and 7 June 1944.

40th Anniversary Commemoration
The memorial looks out across the River Hamble. It is said that the design of the memorial itself resembles the Prow of a Landing Craft in which the Commandos embarked on.
